What DPI Controls
DPI determines how many pixels are created from the physical size of a PDF page. A higher value gives the renderer more pixels for text edges, lines, and image detail.
It also increases file size. Doubling DPI can create far more than double the pixels, so quality choices should match the real destination.
Practical DPI Ranges
Use 72 to 100 DPI for small thumbnails and quick previews. Use 150 DPI for most web and presentation uses. Use 200 to 300 DPI when the image will be zoomed, printed, or inspected closely.
Values above 300 DPI are rarely useful unless the original PDF contains high-quality vector detail and the output has a specific production requirement.
Match DPI to the Final Display Size
A JPG exported at 150 DPI can look sharp when displayed at normal slide size but blurry if stretched across a large banner. Always evaluate the image at the dimensions where it will appear.

When Higher DPI Will Not Help
