FAQ

Base64 Encode/Decode

Can Base64 encode binary data and not just text?
Yes. Base64 is designed to encode binary data as ASCII text. DevME supports encoding and decoding both plain text and binary-safe content for data URIs, email attachments, and API request bodies.
What is the difference between standard and URL-safe Base64?
Standard Base64 uses + and / characters that break URLs. URL-safe Base64 replaces these with - and _ respectively. DevME supports both variants — select the appropriate mode based on where you will use the encoded output.
Does encoding text in Base64 make it secure or private?
No. Base64 is encoding, not encryption. Anyone can decode Base64 back to the original data instantly. Never use Base64 to protect sensitive information — use proper encryption instead.

Most free tools make money by processing and analyzing the contents of your files. We don't. DocsMe was built with local document processing as a first-class feature, not an afterthought.
